Photo 1: Carry the Removable Mounting board to the pickup (or trailer) bed for installation. (All underside lumber and hardware is shown for your viewing).
Photo 2: Locate the position of where the Removable Mount will be installed and mark location of Eyebolts. Drill eyebolt holes and install eyebolt shaft into hole.
Note: Use the top nut to make the “eye” have the proper height so that when the ¾” pipe is installed through the eyebolt “eyes” it will tightly “clamp” the temporary mounting 2’ x 4’ plywood firmly to the pickup/trailer bed.
Photo 3: Insert the ¾” pipe into the “eyes”, place the pipe and eyebolts on top of the Removable Mount and lower the eyebolt shank with the TOP ONLY nut/washer into the drilled holes in the pickup bed. Rotate the NUT to get the correct height for the “eye”.
Note: Adjust “eye height” so that mounting board is snugly against the pickup bed flooring. This is important to keep the temporary mounting board from “jumping up-and-down” during transport!
Photo 4: Pull eyebolts out by using the pipe. Place a bead of Liquid Silicone around each hole so the Flat Washer will “seal” the hole from the topside. Place eyebolts with Flat Washer back into their holes and ensuring the Pipe remains “snug” against the temporary mount. Repeat adjusting eyebolt height as necessary.
Note: For your convenience, LEAVE the pipe in place (to keep the eyebolts from turning) and go under the pickup bed and attach Flat Washer/Lock-Washer/2 nuts to the threads. You may wish to apply some Liquid Silicone to the underside BEFORE pushing the Flat Washer into place. Also, the Liquid Silicone can be used as a “thread-locker” when locking the nuts together to prevent backing off during travel.
Photo 5: “Ready to Go” The mounting board is now ready for use.
CAUTION: This temporary mounting system for pickup/trailer bed use is ONLY good for lighter weight bikes (LESS than 500 lbs.) that are normally carried in the back of a pickup. This is mainly due to the forces that will on the eyebolt SHAFTS as the motorcycle weight shifts back and forth during acceleration/braking may cause the eyebolt ½” shaft TO BEND.
Photo 6 & 7: Shows the mount in place and the use of a 2”x4” board to prevent “denting” of the pickup bed and provides even load distribution. This use of wood to prevent “denting” of the pickup bed can be applied to the “sides” of the mount and help prevent side-to-side shifting of the bike and mount during transport.
Photo 8: Shows the eyebolts that remain AFTER the Removable Mount is removed.
